Tobapos --The regency of Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra is expected to soon have steam powered electric plant to be built by an Indian investor.
Chief Adviser of Madhucan India Mr Shiwa told reporters here his company is ready to build the power plant.
"In the first phase the company will build a 150 megawatt power plant," Shiwa said after a meeting with Governor Alex Noerdin here on Friday.
The plan is to build two units of 150 MW power plant, he said, adding in July the guarantee fund would be available.
The power plant will be the first project in the energy sector in Indonesia, he said.
Alex Noerdin said the provincial administration welcomed the Mudhucan's plan to build the power plant in cooperation with the state electric company PLN.
The project is expected to be completed and operational in 2016, head of the strategic procurement division of PLN Bagio Riauan said.
The project will be important to help rural electrification program in that area, he said. (ant/adm)
