    Indonesia deploys team in Changi to monitor Airasia QZ8501 updates

    Tobapos -- The Indonesian Embassy in Singapore has deployed a special team at the operation room of AirAsia in Changi Airport to monitor any updates of AirAsia flight QZ8501.

    Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi said here on Sunday, that the MOFA had set up a special team to stand by at the Changi Airport, Singapore and Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Jakarta.

    The Indonesian team in Singapore has also set up a hotline for those who want to seek further information of their friends or family members on +6585912462.

    Minister Retno also said the Singaporean and Australian governments had offered assistance to the Indonesian authorities to help search for the missing plane.

    "The Singaporean and Australian governments have called to offer assistance, after this I will also call the Malaysian minister back," she said.

    Later, all foreign assistance will be coordinated by the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) of Indonesia.

    Retno added the MOFA has called all foreign representatives in Indonesia whose citizens aboard the AirAsia aircraft.

    There were seven foreigners, consisting of three South Koreans, one Singaporean, one Malaysian, one British, and a first officer from France.

    The plane has 155 passengers consisting of 138 adults, 16 children and an infant, as well as two pilots, four crew members and a technician, aboard.

    The AirAsia plane flight QZ 8501 departed from Surabaya's Juanda airport at around 05:20 Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB). The plane was scheduled to arrive in Singapore at 08:30 am local time. (ant/adm)
